Is this the training for you? this course is for individuals who need to respond to first aid emergencies in the home, workplace or the community. Basic first aid training is required in the workplace to provide care to an individual until a first aid responder or a medical professional arrives. The training will give trainees the necessary knowledge and practical skills to competently handle a spectrum of health and safety situations from common injuries and illnesses to more serious incidents. search Topics covered include: assessing a situation arranging medical help if required techniques for providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (cpr), using an automated external defibrillator (aed), and the action to take in the event of a person choking.

Shillelagh-coolboy gaa organised the installation of defibrillators in the club in 2021 and 18 club coaches  were trained and certified in cpr & defibrillators and pitch side first aid by niamh gaffney – emergency first aid. Following last year’s excellent training by niamh our 2022 healthy club project included emergency first aid training for 8 parents which included focus on paediatric emergency frist aid, cpr & defib. Following the training a parent had an emergency with one of her children. The mother was happy to report back that thanks to the course she felt calm and confident to deal with it.

This is a 3-day course that has been designed for individuals who wish to become occupational first aiders in the workplace. This is a hands-on course that covers a number of topics such as cpr & aed training, first aid in the workplace and much more.

Automated External Defibrillation (AED)

The health & safety authority (hsa) now recognises the phecc first aid response (far) training course as meeting the needs of occupational first aid. The far standard was developed by the pre-hospital emergency care council (phecc) an independent statutory body who set the standards for education and training for pre-hospital emergency care in ireland. choose On completion of this 3-day course, the first aid responder will be equipped with the necessary practical skills, knowledge and confidence to give effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries or illness, and maintain care and comfort of a patient who has become suddenly ill or injured in the workplace or elsewhere until the arrival of emergency medical services.

This is open to anyone who currently holds a valid occupational first aid certificate. The occupational first aid course now includes cardiac first responder training in the use of an automated external defibrillators (aeds) and administering aspirin for heart attack patients. The occupational first aid regulations safety, health and welfare at work general applications regulations s. I. No. 299 of 2007. Under the safety, health and welfare at work (general application) regulations 2007, there is a requirement on employers based on a risk assessment to have a sufficient number of occupational first aiders trained and deployed in the workplace.
